The World Commission on Protected Areas website is sponsored by the World Commission on Protected Areas, part of the IUCN. The mission of the commission is to "promote the extablishment and effective management of world-wide representative network of terrestrial and marine protected areas, as an integral contribution to the IUCN mission.

The Wilderness Information Network, or wilderness.net, is sponsored by the wilderness Institute at the University of Montana and the four federal agencies that manage designated wilderness in the United States. The mission of the website is to "heighten the wilderness dialog worldwide" and it provides access to a comprehensive database of all National Wilderness Preservation System Wilderness areas in the United States. Visitors can browse Wilderness areas using maps or search the database for specific areas.
- World Heritage Information Network
The World Heritage Information Network website is sponsored by the World Heritage Convention by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Curtural Organization. The mission of the site is to act as "a clearing-house for information about the natural and cultural sites identified as being of 'outstanding universal value' and inscribed on the World Heritage list by the Intergovernmental World Heritage Committee."

The EarthTrends website is sponsired by the World Resources Institute and is "an environmental think tank that goes beyond research to find practical ways to protect the earth and improve people's lives," and acts as an invorinmental information access portal.
- World Conservation Monitoring Centre
As part of the United Nations Environmental Program, the World Conservation Monitoring Centre includes many interactive features such as database and online mapping, as well as many Web pages with supporting information.
- The Science and Management of Protected Areas Association
SAMPAA originated in 1989 when a small group of scientists and managers in Canada agreed there was a need to improve the quality and use of science in protected areas management. SAMPAA is a charitable organization devoted to enhancing the use of science in the management of protected areas. Its main focus is the development of opportunities for managers and researchers to engage in dialogue about the management of protected areas.
